We become entrepreneurs so that we can create the life of our dreams. We strive to make a positive impact in the world and not be bound to a 9-5 schedule. The unfortunate mistake so many entrepreneurs make is that their schedule often ends up exceeding a normal 9-5 day, when their intention was to have more free time. It doesn’t have to be that way, you can have a successful business AND a flexible schedule. I’ve designed a program that can – and will – allow for you to have that work-life balance you so deserve.

My name is Melody Pourmoradi, I’m the author of XOXO From A Girl Who Gets It and Empowered Women Empower Girls, a certified empowerment coach, the creator of the GiRLiFE Certification Program and a mama to twin girls. I know just saying it all out loud sounds hectic, but through the creation of my program I’ve learned that operating a business to fit your lifestyle, and your schedule, really is possible.

When I came up with the idea for GiRLiFE, a business centered around empowering women to empower girls, I wanted to make it as seamless as possible for women to get their instructor certification – to have the workshops locked and loaded so they could hit the ground running. GiRLiFE was created with “a life by design” in mind. Here are a few things I’ve learned from having a business that I’ve intentionally created to fit my schedule, and as a result, has allowed me to live the life of my dreams.

Delegate

The first thing you might think is “But Melody! I am a solopreneur, I don’t have a team to delegate to!” I totally get it. But you most likely have a partner or kids at home who can help. Maybe they can’t help you in your business, but they can certainly do their share of the house work, cooking, errand running, appointment setting, etc. Let others in your life take care of as many of the extraneous tasks as possible so you can focus on your business.

With the GiRLiFE program we’ve already done this part for you. As part of the program you effectively receive a “business-in-a-box.” Your digital program kit comes complete with everything you need to build your own business and start facilitating workshops to groups of girls in your community.

Each kit contains:

  • A comprehensive curriculum with workshop guidance
  • Workshop walkthrough and audio with corresponding slides
  • An icebreaker activity to use if you’re hosting a workshop with girls who don’t know each other well
  • A craft matching each workshop theme with step-by-step instructions and a resource list of recommended items for each craft
  • Suggested playlists and buzzwords so you can create the right kind of environment and vibe for fun
  • A nutrition section with recipes and instructions to use with each workshop
  • And introduction and follow up letter templates you can utilize for marketing and promotion

In addition, you receive:

  • Pricing recommendations and location ideas for planning your first workshop
  • Access to all workshops, and any updates or bonuses offered, for a lifetime
  • Additional training so you can confidently present successful workshops year after year
  • A comprehensive marketing toolkit with graphic templates for social media, ads, flyers, business cards and more
  • A detailed guide to building your business by running profitable and impactful workshops
  • Membership in the Partner-In-Shine Accountability Program
  • Membership to our exclusive facebook community with live trainings and Q&A sessions
  • And an introductory 1:1 session with Melody (Me!) to shower you with love and support!

Basically you’ve “pre-delegated” the leg-work to us with this program, so you can check delegation off your list from the get go!

Define Your Hours

For me, my working hours are when my kids are at school. Period. Those are my regularly scheduled business hours and I host workshops 1-2 week nights a month as well. For the majority of GiRLiFE facilitators, this is also how they operate. For so many, working until 5 p.m., commuting home, making dinner, and then trying to fit in some family time can be so stressful. Jumping into entrepreneurship can give you freedom over your schedule, but your time is valuable so use it thoughtfully and be sure to have time away from work as well. Setting definitive working hours gives your clients clear boundaries so that they do not feel they have access to you 24/7 and allows you to have that work-life balance that you seek.

Say No

One of the hardest things about being an entrepreneur is knowing when you should say no to an opportunity. It’s incredibly difficult to sift out what will be worth your precious time. Opportunities come rapidly when you start a business – but not all are worthy of your yes. Being selective about what you take on is another great way of setting boundaries with your clients. Research their propositions, choose carefully and never feel like you need to take on all of them simply because they were presented. Many of us as entrepreneurs are helpers or givers and we’d like to take on every task, but if you spread yourself too thin you won’t be able to focus your attention where it’s truly needed.

Remember, every yes you say to something, is a no you say to something else. When you say no to an opportunity, it’s also a yes to your family time, self-care time, or productivity time. So be selective to what you say yes and no to.

Revenue-Generating To Dos

When you have a limited schedule (say from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day while kids are at school) you must be diligent about your activities. In the last few years, the majority of the workforce was sent home, setting up makeshift offices in their bedrooms and at their kitchen tables. It’s easy to just throw in a load of laundry or put the dishes in the dishwasher during the course of your day, but those tasks are not revenue-generating activities.

Doing housework or anything other than business activities that will impact your bottom line need to be avoided during your defined work hours. This is a good time to delegate (see point #1) – or save these tasks for after your work hours. Fortunately with the GiRLiFE Certification Program your to-do list is abbreviated because we’ve done the majority of the prep work for you, right down to including a materials list for each workshop so that you can run the workshops with minimal prep.

If you want to create a business that gives you control over your time while making an income that supports the lifestyle you want – consider becoming a GiRLiFE facilitator. Our certification program provides a comprehensive curriculum and workshop guidance with lifetime access and support – everything you need to establish a successful business. Join us today to rise up and be the change you so deeply wish to see in this generation of girls while earning money for the valuable work that you do!
